Gender stereotypes hold us all back
Whether it’s slugs and snails or sugar and spice, from the moment they’re born kids are picking up messages about just what it is they’re made of, and these messages can influence who they play with, the toys they choose, academic performance and even future career choices. I’m on a mission to challenge that.

Participants will leave my programmes feeling confident to:
-
Promote a variety of role models
-
Use inclusive language
-
Challenge stereotypes when they see them in action
-
Facilitate open conversation about stereotypes and gender equity with young people.
TRAINING FOR TEACHERS & PRACTITIONERS
Raising Gentle Boys
This workshop focuses specifically on how stereotypes negatively affect boys and men. From toxic masculinity to misogynist influencers, we’ll explore the issues boys are facing today and how educators and parents can support boys to grow up into compassionate, kind and successful adults.
Outside the Box
This workshop is a one-stop-shop for educators seeking to promote gender equity in their classrooms and beyond. We’ll consider how we can best meet the needs of all children and move beyond stereotypes, allowing kids to explore their whole selves and to reach their full potential regardless of their gender.

Classroom DEI: The Inclusive Practitioner
This introductory workshop puts practitioners front and centre. We’ll explore the meaning of diversity, equity and inclusion, what it takes for all children to feel understood and accepted in the classroom, as well as common types of unconscious bias and how best to overcome them. Participants leave with a personal inclusion action plan to implement right away.

Disability Inclusion in the ESL Classroom
The human race is varied and diverse, and so are our classrooms - so let's not treat learners as a monolith! In this workshop, teachers are introduced to the social model of disability, which shows us how people are disabled by their environment. Through this framework, we will unpick the barriers to learning that can arise in the ELT setting and the role of the teacher in dismantling them.
