Classroom DEI

This introductory workshop puts practitioners front and centre, allowing them the space to consider their own practice and what inclusion means to them. We’ll explore what it takes for all children to feel understood and accepted in the classroom, as well as common types of unconscious bias and how best to overcome them. Participants leave with their own inclusion action plan, allowing them to put what they’ve learned into practice straight away.

Topics covered include:

  • What does DEI mean to you?

  • Considering what makes us different

  • Unconscious bias in the classroom

  • What is stereotype threat?

  • Possible selves theory

  • Creating an inclusion action plan

This workshop is suitable for anyone who works in education or with young people. It is perfect for schools at the beginning of their DEI journey and can be easily modified to supplement or build upon prior DEI training. It also comes with the possibility of a follow up session to reflect on the success of inclusion action plans and to update goals as necessary.
